 DETAILS - UPCOMING CONCERTS -

(*) - Drawing from personal conversations and correspondence over the course of their friendship, Richard Wyszynski presents a centenary tribute to the memory of composer Alec Wilder. Conducting the Cardinal Chamber Orchestra, Wyszynski will highlight Wilder's early orchestral works including "Theme and Variations," "Slow Dance," "Air for Oboe," "Air for English Horn" (transcribed for clarinet), and The Octets - "Kindergarten Flower Pageant," "House Detective Registers," "Remember Me To Youth," and "The Children Met The Train." In addition, the performance will include selected songs from "Lullabyes and Night Songs." The musicians featured as soloists include  Alyssa Bennett (soprano), Gail Schechter (clarinet), and Gustavo Oroza (oboe). The free concert will be given Friday, August 3rd, 2007 at 12:15pm in the auditorium of the Harold Washington Public Library, 400 South State Street, Chicago. DETAILS - PAST CONCERTS -

"Music on Barcelona", under the direction of Steven Ovitsky, is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Santa Fe. The program will include the Alec Wilder Octets  "Neurotic Goldfish", "Pieces of Eight", "Little Girl Grows Up", "It's Silk, Feel It", "Seldom the Sun", "Little White Samba", "Such a Tender Night", "She'll Be Seven in May", "Walking Home In Spring", and "Jack, This is My Husband". The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center presents "The Music of Alec Wilder" featuring The Broken Reed Saxophone Quartet and Guests. Saturday, March 17th, 3:00pm. Admission is free, first come first served. Scheduled pieces to be performed: "Suite of Alec Wilder Songs" (arr. Charley Gerard) including - I."Introduction"  II."Where Have All the Good People Gone"  III."Give Me Time"  IV."Moon and Sand"  V."Night Talk"  VI."Who Can I Turn To?";  Viola Sonata ; following a brief intermission will be "Winter of My Discontent", "The Lady Sings the Blues", "A Child is Born", and "Don't Deny" arranged by Charley Gerard for Saxophone Quartet. - Musicians: Charley Gerard, alto saxophone/director; Chris Bacas, tenor & soprano saxophones; Tom Olin, tenor & soprano saxophones; Michel Gohler, baritone saxophone; Guests include: Eva Gerard, viola; Evan Shinners, piano; Elena McEntire, mezzo-soprano; Evan Sarzin, baritone.
